Unique Musical Repertoire
The musical creations of Samyo are unique, as they combine classical and modern, North and South Indian Music, and the classical moods of modern day Britain and the Indian-subcontinent.
Samyo's musical repertoire is constantly evolving, and no tour is the same. From its debut season in 2002, the tour and performances have presented new experiences in traditional and contemporary Indian classical music for its audiences.
In contrast to the largely improvised and solo tradition of Indian Classical Music, Samyo commissions brand new music by expert composers, from Britain and overseas. The contemporary sound of modern multi-cultural Britain is distinctly heard through themusic that Samyo plays.
Samyo's percussion Ensemble
From the beginning of 2010, Samyo's percussion section has take a new form and in the process evolving into a 'percussion Ensemble' with the talented percussionists from Samyo's North Indian and South Indian musical traditions. This ensemble has its own unique repertoire of specially commissioned pieces, under the able conducting of Tabla maestro Sanju Sahai. The percussion ensemble debuted at 'Music for Youth' - Primary Proms, at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, Birmingham to an overwhelming response. The percussion ensemble is available for performances throughout the country. Please contact the management for further details.
Samyo Quintet
Yet another new initiative by Milapfest was to spread Samyo to every corner of the country. Samyo Quintet will represent five very talented musicians from Samyo to showcase the orchestra's condensed version and will also show a glimpse of each young musician's individuality. This quintet will consist of members who excel in their respective sections of the orchestra and will get its own set of compositions!
The Samyo Quintet will be touring across the UK from late 2010 onwards. It is available for performances throughout the country. Contact us for further details!
